Rudrashtakam | Namami Shamishan Nirvan Roopam.

English Translation

Verse 1: I bow to Lord Shiva, the supreme being whose form is liberation, omnipresent, the embodiment of the Vedas, self-existent, beyond attributes, beyond duality, desireless, the consciousness that pervades the sky.

Verse 2: Formless, the root of Om, transcending the three states of consciousness, beyond speech and knowledge, the Lord of the mountains, fierce yet compassionate, the destroyer of the cycle of birth and death, I bow to Him.

Verse 3: Resplendent like the snow-clad mountains, profound, with a body shining like millions of Cupids, adorned with the beautiful Ganga flowing from His matted hair, the crescent moon on His forehead, and a serpent around His neck.

Verse 4: With swinging earrings, broad eyes, a serene face, blue throat, compassionate nature, wearing a tiger skin and a garland of skulls, I worship the beloved Shankara, the Lord of all.(

Verse 5: Fierce, supreme, courageous, the eternal, unborn, shining like countless suns, wielding the trident that uproots the threefold miseries, I worship the consort of Bhavani, attainable through devotion.

Verse 6: Beyond time, the bestower of auspiciousness, the terminator of the cycle of creation, always granting bliss to the virtuous, the destroyer of delusion, please be gracious, O Lord, slayer of Kamadeva.

Verse 7: Until humans worship the lotus feet of Uma’s consort, they do not attain happiness, peace, or relief from suffering. Please be gracious, O Lord, who resides in all beings.

Verse 8: I do not know yoga, chanting, or worship; I always bow to you, O Shambhu. Afflicted by the pain of old age and birth, please protect me, O Lord, I bow to you, O Shambhu.
